Sydney AI is preparing Patricia for controlled research and pilot studies in ageing, supported living and home care.
Early studies can use Patricia on tablets or other simple devices, allowing researchers to evaluate conversation, continuity, reminders, practical assistance and user engagement before introducing physical robotics.
We are interested in collaborating with care organisations, researchers and consumers to determine where personalised AI assistance is useful, acceptable and safe.
Patricia is under development. We do not currently claim that it improves clinical outcomes, prevents cognitive decline or replaces professional care.
What early studies can look at
- Conversation. Whether people can ask for what they need in their own words and be understood.
- Continuity. Whether remembering routines, people and preferences makes the assistance more useful over days and weeks.
- Reminders and practical assistance. Whether day-to-day help with routines, lists, messages and information is used and valued.
- Engagement and acceptability. How people, families and staff feel about the assistant, and whether they choose to keep using it.
- Safety and handover. Whether the assistant recognises when to stop and involve a person, and how that works in practice.
How a study can start
A study can begin with one setting, one group of participants and a small set of everyday tasks on a tablet. Staff or family stay in control throughout and can stop or take over at any point. Physical robotics is introduced only where a study finds that embodiment would add something a screen cannot.
Our position: Patricia is not an emergency service, and any study would keep humans in control with clear handover to staff or family when the assistant is uncertain or a situation may be unsafe. Real deployments must be evaluated against the applicable ethics, safety, privacy and regulatory obligations.
